2018 General Election Lost 50 – 50 (1315 votes)

Feehan’s fine –

Dan Feehan https://danfeehan.com/ is more than fine.  He is what a Congressional candidate should be.  He grew up in Red Wing Minnesota, in MN 01 (A likely Republican Republican opponent lives in Blue Earth, MN).  His dad had run for office unsuccessfully.  As a child, he was enamored of Paul Wellstone.  His goal was public service.

On September 11, 2001, Dan Feehan was in Washington, DC.  His public service goal became joining the military.  He signed up for ROTC, graduated, and served two combat tours in Iraq from 2006 to 2009.  He earned the Bronze Star for Service, the Army Commendation Medal with Valor, and the Ranger Tab.

Next was teaching.  He joined Teach for America.  In Dan Feehan’s case it is not mawkish to say that hesaw himself as teaching for America.

Dan Feehan decided to teach during his second tour in Iraq, He “dealt a lot with kids … and saw the violence of war being pretty indiscriminate in who it touches.”   He wanted to work with kids affected by hard times.  There was the South Side of Chicago and then a sixth grade in Gary, Indiana.  The work was a challenge, a challenge he met successfully.  He is careful as he says “I’m not calling it a war zone, by any means, but I saw youth pretty much challenged by their environment, and a school in need.”

Dan Feehan’s success with those kids required the leadership he learned in the military and the leadership he would exercise in politics: “If you’re a leader, you have to have a sense of what your organization is—its strengths, its weaknesses, but most importantly, where it’s going. Where are you taking it? What’s the vision? Because if you’re not thinking about what that vision is, no one else is.”

Dan Feehan’s stint in Gary had a couple of successes outside the classroom.  He married the woman who taught English to the sixth graders.  He got an internship in the White House.   Dan Feehan’s internship brought him back to the military.  After Dan Feehan served as a deputy, President Obama appointed him Assistant Secretary of Defense for Readiness.

What is Feehan for?

  • Universal Health Care — a focus on the health needs of rural communities, veterans and those in active service.  He would improve the Affordable Care Act, remake the VA, reduce the cost of medicines, and focus on the opioid crisis.  He wants systemic solutions.
  • Thriving Agriculture — Help farmers improve production through technology, help youth and newcomers become farmers, and improve transportation to market.
  • Effective Education — Provide low cost and accessible preschool. Strengthen K-12 education so that it is aligned with the economy, train children to solve problems and think on their feet, recruit and retain strong teacher with a focus on fields with shortages, and build partnerships between the public schools and other institutions in their communities.
  • Genuine National Security — Put diplomacy first, spend military funds wisely, and make certain that Congress fulfills its appropriate role as a check on acts by the executive to enter into unnecessary conflicts.

He is the kind of Congressman we want to see.  Help Dan Feehan https://danfeehan.com/.  Control of Congress could depend on who succeeds in MN 01, MN 02, and MN 03 — Dan Feehan’s southern tier of Minnesota and two nearby districts that are suburbs of Minneapolis and St. Paul.

Dan Feehanis attempting to retain a seat vacated by a Democrat running for governor.  Provide Dan Feehanwith the help he needs to keep this seat Democratic.
