One thing worth learning about negotiating from watching Trump. Walk away. Don’t want anything too much. Don’t let anyone see you want anything too much.
True for Trump with women, too. Treat them like dirt, he said. Let them walk away. He didn’t care. He acted like he didn’t care. Either way, that was his version of seduction.
Buy real estate? If the price is too high, walk away. Don’t want something too much. Don’t buy it.
If a business is going down the tubes, walk away. Structure the deal so you are protected. Declare bankruptcy. Walk away.
Run for President. Don’t want it too much. Don’t look like you want it too much. Bluster. Make fun of your opponents. Don’t spend your own money. Free publicity. When the press is your enemy, it is your friend.
Run for a Second Term. It gets tough. How can you not want it? How can you walk away? There are criminal charges out there? Little you can structure to protect yourself. After the election, win or lose, pardon yourself. Have an operation, turn over operations to the Vice President for a few days. Let Pence pardon you. But will he do it?
