North Carolina has 13 Congressional Districts. Two of them a vacant. Both will be decided on Elections on Tuesday, September 10.
NC 03 Greg v. Al. Boy v. Boy. Greenville, East Carolina, and the Tidewater. A land of resentment. No chance for a possible Democratic victory according to Inside Elections and the Cook Report. The cantankerous, anti-establishment, anti-Trump Republican incumbent died. A Democratic victory would be a sign that the Democratic House majority will grow substantially and the Democrats have a good chance to win the Senate. A Republican victory would be ordinary.
State Rep Dr. Greg Murphy defeated Dr. Joan Perry for the Republican nomination. His degrees: US Naval Academy, MD UNC. His run off victory was a disappointment to women in the Republican Party who hoped to overcome the canard (from their perspective) that women aren’t conservative enough. Murphy is a urologist. Perry a pediatrician. Their specialties probably enhanced the stereotype.
Allen Thomas. BA Eastern Carolina, MBS UNC. Technology entrepreneur, former Mayor of Greenville, former head of Quad East economic development agency. Can he make his business orientation sufficiently attractive to overcome the Republican, made for Trump, character of the district? He is popular in the district’s largest city. Twenty-five percent of the district is African America. Will they serve as a base for him? Do what you can to help him. A victory would have an enormous payoff.
