2018 General Election Elected 52 — 43
Harry can pick ‘em
For the 2016 congressional elections, Harry Reid chose his favorite for Nevada’s third congressional district – Jacky Rosen. The includes southern Las Vegas and parts. He found her as the President of Congregation Ner Tamid in Henderson. She got nearly two-thirds of the primary vote. She won the election in this competitive district by less than 4,000 votes out of 310,000 — a difference that was smaller than the number of votes either the independent candidate or the candidate of the American Independent Party received.
In 2018, Nevada has an incumbent Republican Senator up for election. He is the most endangered Republican incumbent. With Harry Reid’s encouragement, Jacky Rosen is running for the US Senate . She has an even chance of being elected.
Harry Reid has found a new favorite for Nevada’s third congressional district —Susie Lee https://susieleeforcongress.com/. She is President of the Board of Communities In Schools of Nevada, a program dedicated to reducing dropouts from Nevada high schools. One of eight children of an Ohio steel worker and astay at home mom, a graduate of Carnegie-Mellon from which she also has an MBA, she married a member of the Nevada wealthy working class. Her husband was the CFO of one Las Vegas attractionthen CEO of another.
Susie Lee has been a leading Nevada philanthropist. Before she was a philanthropist, she had been a water and environmental consultant in Massachusetts and a policy advisor to the Las Vegas mayor, She became President of Nevada Women’s Philanthropy, the Founding Executive Director of a homeless shelter for needy families, and now focuses on preventing school dropouts.
Susie Lee is not new to politics. Nor is she new to the third Congressional district, though in 2014 she sought election in Las Vegas’s fourth Congressional district.
This time round,Susie Leeis getting plenty of support. She has been endorsed by Emily’s LIst, many Nevadans, and many Nevadan organizations. In the 2016 run, the Culinary Workers Union preferred a different candidate. They opposed her in the primary stressing her family’s wealth. The Culinary Workers are not opposed this time.
Just as Rosen won in NV 03 in a very close race, Susie Leenow faces a tough campaign. The numbers of registered Democrats (154,000) versus registered Republicans (144,000) is a clue to how close this election is likely to be. Give Susie Lee https://susieleeforcongress.com/ some support. Even wealthy candidates know that outside support means something. The election is far enough away so that monthly support, even a small amount each month, is helpful.
