January Special elections

In Connecticut, a Democrat held a House District by two points that Trump had  carried. In two other Connecticut races, a Democrat held a Democratic seat, a Republican held a Republican seat. In Kentucky, a Democrat lost a state Senate race by a slightly smaller margin than Hillary Clinton lost it.  In Georgia, a Republican carried a Republican seat with 58% of the vote, avoiding a run off. In Texas, a Democrat held a Democratic House seat. In another Texas race, a Democrat defeated another Democrat in a House race. In the most watched special election of January, in a district that Hillary Clinton lost by 10 points and Beto O’Rourke lost by 3, Eliz Markowitz lost by 16. Is the Texas shift to Democrats an illusion? Was it the free spending of the Republican self-funder that did it? Or was a gay woman with a Jewish name a step or two too far for the Houston suburbs?
