Xochitl Torres Small was elected to Congress from NM 02 by less than 4,000 votes in 2018. The district is heavily Republican. She is vulnerable in 2020. She was a strong candidate. Wife of a state rep, a field rep for Senator Udall for three years, and an attorney whose expertise is water issues, she was well prepared for the 2018 campaign and is prepared for 2020. Her intriguing high school experience only adds to the strength of her candidacy.
Xochitl Torres Small is a Las Cruces attorney for Kemp, Smith an El Paso Texas-based law firm, a former clerk for a federal judge, and former head of US Senator Tom Udall's regional office. She is an ideal Democratic candidate to run for Congress. She knows the district and this is the year for Democratic women to run for Congress. She went away to college -- to Georgetown, but came home for law school -- the University of New Mexico. She stayed home for her clerkship, for her legal work and for her family.
