Can you help? Not with Donald Trump. With members of Congress? With the Squad. With Nancy Pelosi. With other Members of Congress?
Nancy Pelosi knows her business. She has a meeting scheduled with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. They may work it out. We may not need you at all. Just in case, though. Could you do a little prep? Think about helping us all understand how much Democrats have in common. How important it is that we focus on defeating Donald Trump in 2020. In keeping control of the House of Representatives. In winning the Senate.
Help us all understand that the policy differences are one of emphasis.
- There are a variety of ways to ensure that everyone in the country has health insurance.
- The inhumanity of Trump’s treatment of asylum seekers and others crossing into the US is appalling. Whether we decriminalize unauthorized entry into the US or not, we should treat only those who have a criminal history as criminals and we should treat criminals humanely.
- We need a fairer society, one in which everyone who works gets a decent wage, and a decent chance to advance, one in which the wealthy pay their fair share of taxes and, maybe, a little more so that we can afford to invest in improving our country.
- We can consider the best way to respond to the descendants of the victims of slavery, Jim Crow, and discrimination.
- We can ensure that women are equal members of our society
