Archie Parnell is a local who has returned to a town near where he grew up and his running for Congress. He has degrees from the University of South Carolina, the University of South Carolina Law School, and a Master of Laws in taxation from Georgetown Law School. He has a definitely not slick video of him and his wife talking about his passionate interest in taxation. His area of expertise and his passion are tax issues which he worked on for Goldman Sachs in the Far East.

Political Note #7: Jim Thompson KS 04

James Thompson, a Wichita Civil Rights attorney has been nominated by the Democratic caucus to run for the Fourth Congressional District of Kansas. Jim Thompson has a compelling story to tell. He describes himself as having been homeless as a child, but able to keep himself together sufficiently to graduate from high school and join the army. In the army, he gained sufficient recognition so tha he served as a member of the Presidential Honor Guard.

Manka Dhingra is a County Prosecutor and describes her family history as follows: Her grandmother spoke out against domestic violence in India. A great aunt was a UN representative for women at conferences in Beijing and New York. If she is elected Democrats will gain control of the Washington State Senate.

The Republican predecessor for Senate CT-32 resigned to join a legislature audit group: The Democratic candidate is:Greg Cava, a 58 year old attorney and school board member who is taking a second shot at Representing CT-32 in the CT senate. He is from Roxbury, CT and has focused on zoning and land use law in his practice.

Political Note #1: Stephanie Hansen DE SD 10

On February 25, there will be an election in District 10 of the Delaware State Senate. Delaware has a Democratic governor and a majority of the Delaware General Assembly. It would have a majority (with the Lt. Governor voting) except that the Senator from District 10 was elected to be the Lt. Governor and had to resign her seat. To retain a majority in the Delaware Senate, the Democrats have to win the election in District 10.
