2017       Special Election     Lost 52-46

2018       General Election    Lost 60-40

Here is a really challenging test of just what kind of Democratic wave we may be seeing in special elections. A victory in Kansas would be startling.  James Thompson, a Wichita Civil Rights attorney has been nominated by the Democratic caucus to run for the Fourth Congressional District of Kansas.  More about him can be found at his website:http://www.votejamesthompson.com/This seat is available because Donald Trump named the District Congressman to head the CIA.  The election is scheduled for April 11 which is coming up very soon.  Thompson needs resources now.

Jim Thompson has a compelling story to tell.  He describes himself as having been homeless as a child, but able to keep himself together sufficiently to graduate from high school and  join the army.  In the army, he gained sufficient recognition so that, as he reports, he served as a member of the Presidential Honor Guard.  Having become ambitious during his term in the army, he describes using the GI Bill to get his Bachelor’s Degree at Wichita State and followed that by getting his JD from Washburn Law School.  To complete the story, he and his wife have named their daughter Liberty.

Jim Thompson focuses include education and veterans services.  As a candidate, he was a moderator of a Women’s March town hall meeting  — a meeting whose attendees were disappointed when Kansas’ two Senators did not appear as expected.  He has the support of those people who expect more of their Senators and state political leaders. He describes his race as a challenge both to Trump and to the terrible toll Governor Brownback’s administration has taken on Kansas.  So much has gone wrong in Kanass that commentators have urged Democrats throughout the country to campaign against their opponents as if they were  Kansas’ Governor Brownback.

It has been a while since Kansas 04 has been represented by a Democrat.  Dan Glickman was their Congressman in the 90s.  Give some thought to supporting James Thompson for Kansas 04.   His website is http://www.votejamesthompson.com/  His Facebook page is https://www.facebook.com/pg/votejamesthompson/about/?ref=page_internal
