Look at the numbers:
11 million Syrians. As a result of the Syrian Civil War, more than 5 million Syrians have escaped and crossed national boundaries to Turkey (3.5 million), Lebanon (1 million), Jordan (500,000), Egypt and other countries. In addition, 6 million are internally displaced. Most are living in camps or in other restricted conditions.
1 million Rohyngya. There are about one million of them, with a distinctive culture, their own language, Muslims living in a land of Buddhists. Though most have lived in Myanmar for generations, Myanmar considers them illegal immigrants from Bangladesh. Villages burned, individuals threatened, 300,000 were living in displacement camps before 2017. Now there may be a million in camps in Bangladesh.
1 million Uighurs. There are more than 11 million in China, most of them in the far Northwest Chinese province of Xinjiang. They have a Turkic origin and are Muslims in an areligious, Communist country. They are among the 50 or so recognized minorities in China. Fearing the Uighurs were seeking autonomy or independence, the Chinese have placed a million or more of them in reeducation camps. Among Muslim countries, only Turkey has condemned Chinese actions.
1.5 million Palestinians. After the war through which Israel fulfilled the UN mandate as an independent country, 700,000 Palestinians left or were expelled from Israel and were living in UNRWA camps. Not long ago, in 2012, there were an estimated 5 million descendants of those refugees of whom approximately 1.5 million were living in camps. They have been unable to return to an ordinary life in lands controlled by Israel. Nor have they been offered the opportunity to integrate into Arab countries, except for Jordan.
.5 million natives of the Northern triangle of Central America. The UNHCR reports there are more than a half million refugees from Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras. The refugees seek to escape the criminal gangs that dominate each of these countries. Parents seek to shield daughters from sexual slavery, sons from being forced into criminal behavior. The most coveted option is escape to the United States.
There are a lot of Muslims who are refugees. I have no analysis to explain that.
