Freshman Member of Congress and Moslem Ilhan Omar was accused of anti-Semitism.
The Anti Defamation League commented , Omar said, in the context of the U.S.-Israel relationship: “I want to talk about the political influence in this country that says it is OK for people to push for allegiance to a foreign country.”
Responding to Congresswoman Nita Lowey, Omar wrote: “I should not be expected to have allegiance/pledge support to a foreign country in order to serve my country in Congress or serve on committee.”
House Democrats criticized Omar for claiming that Jews attempt to exercise control through money and have dual allegiance rather than allegiance to the United States. Omar apologized. Nancy Pelosi’s created a resolution condemning various kinds of hatred.
In 2015, Candidate Donald J. Trump spoke to the Republican Jewish Coalition. He said he wouldn’t take their money because. “You want to control your politicians, that’s fine,” No one denounced that statement.
Two years later, President Trump spoke to the same group. He said: “I stood with your prime minister at the White House to recognize Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights,” Dual loyalty, anyone?
These are not Trump’s only questionable remarks. He has criticized specific Jews as “globalists,” language similar to the Soviet slur against Jews as “cosmopolitan.”
The Republican counterpart to Nancy Pelosi, the House Minority Leader accused George Soros, Michael Bloomberg, and Tom Steyer of attempting to buy elections.
Republicans do not criticize McCarthy or Trump for their comments. The ADL does. They see the reference to dual loyalty – just what Omar was criticized for. The media seems to think that Trump is just confused. Not so. He is consistent in what he thinks of Jews.
Who is the anti-Semite?
