May 1 was a very bad day for Donald Trump.
His Venezeulan coup failed. Against a Venezuelan dictator who deserved a coup, who has driven an enormous number of people out of his country because of his failed economy. Trump’s incompetence trumped Maduro’s madness.
His North Carolina Republicans could not agree on a candidate for NC 03. Two doctors were left standing. One of them a woman, Joan Perry. If Trump is going to find true opposition from among the Republicans, the odds are good that it will come from women. He is in trouble in NC 03. Unlikely, but the Democrats could even win this seat that Trump had carried by 24 points.
He lost a law suit. Judge Emmet Gael Sullivan, of the DC Circuit, refused to dismiss an emoluments case against Trump. If this decision stands, Trump will have to disclose his financial records. It will almost certainly gall Trump more that Judge Emmet Gael Sullivan is an African American.
