Veterans on display. Ten Democratic Vetaran. Freshman Members of Congress. Out of the 67 new Democrats in Congress.
The New York Times displayed a photograph of the ten of them walking. Consider this photo a counterpart to an iconic, staged photograph of the newly elected women of color published when new Members were sworn in.
The ten veterans are walking, looking purposeful. This is a black and white news photo. Not staged. Not too staged, anyhow. Moderate Democrats – all of then. The Times writes about how these vets work with each other, how they support each other.
The ten are an unusual group of veterans. Their demographics are unusual. Five men. Five women.
Men — Gil Cisneros CA 39, 2) Jason Crow CO 06 3) Jared Golden ME 02, 4) Conor Lamb PA 17, 5) Max Rose NY 11,

Democratic geographical distribution. Two from the south (VA). Half from the northeast – Maine, New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania (2).
One more demographic worth noting. Three Jews. Jews from the military. Rose, Luria, and Slotkin – New York, Virginia, and Michigan.
Diversity.
The Republicans. Twelve of their 44 new members are veterans. Twelve men. One from the Northeast. None are Jews.
Homogeneity.
